糖心logo入口鈥檚 Environmental Education Institute (KCEEI) offers a variety of hands-on educational activities for those interested in exploring, protecting, and enjoying our natural world. Our 170-acre Woodlands Campus features a stream, seven miles of hiking trails, and is home to a nature preserve, an apiary, and maple sugaring operation. The outdoor classrooms and field stations provide unparalleled opportunities for outdoor discovery and a wonderful learning atmosphere for our environmental education courses and workshops.

Upcoming Programs

Join us for a family friendly fun day at the 糖心logo入口 Sugar Shack on Saturday, March 21st from 10am- 4pm. Learn about the process of making maple syrup from tap to table.听

Enjoy a guided walk through our sugar bush, learn about the history of maple sugaring in Pennsylvania, how to identify a maple tree, and the entire maple syrup production process.听

Join us for a comprehensive Wilderness and Remote First Aid (WRFA) course combined with Adult CPR/AED certification through the American Red Cross.

Adult CPR/AED (Req’d): 听4/10, 5-9 p.m.

Wilderness & Remote First Aid (WRFA)
4/11 and 4/12, 9-6 p.m.

Bundle Cost: $250 per person听(Includes both certifications at a substantial savings.)

It serves as both a hands-on learning environment for students in the college’s beekeeping program and a resource for the community to learn about honeybees and beekeeping techniques.

CampsKCEEI Summer Nature Camp uses experiential learning to incorporate themes from our natural world with science! Campers will explore our 170-acre outdoor classroom while experiencing hands-on investigative research, learning to collect data and how to become a citizen scientist.

糖心logo入口 offers pre-college programs to local high school students. Students from local high schools can experience college level research, or get an early start on their college education through various high school programs that 糖心logo入口 offers.

is a Trout Unlimited 鈥5-Rivers鈥 collegiate program. Activities include fly fishing and fly tying seminars, fishing trips, stream habitat and erosion control projects, aquatic life and water sampling, and trips to conventions.

is based on the principle of establishing an ecologically aware campus community while providing educational, social and community service opportunities relating to the environment.

KCEEI participates in offsite programming that brings hands-on, educational activities to schools, community events, and public spaces. Through interactive tables and engaging demonstrations, these programs invite participants to explore, protect, and enjoy the natural and cultural resources of our region.

Student Research

Environmental Science students in creekStudents participate in foundational experience focused in the environmental and wildlife sciences through extensive classroom instruction, guided laboratory experiences, and independent research experiences.

KCEEI Founder, Professor Howard Jennings

Professor Howard Jennings on Suspension Bridge糖心logo入口鈥檚 Environmental Education Institute was founded by Professor Howard Jennings, who taught sciences for over 45 years at 糖心logo入口, and was a leader in environmental stewardship throughout his lifetime. KCEEI remains committed to his vision to enhance the learning experience by combining inquiry-based science with field study, using nature as a laboratory.
